VirtualBox

I use automatix2 on my Ubuntu machines, and today I noticed something that I didn't notice before--There was a checkbox for something called Virtual Box under the Virtualization section. After doing some research, it looks like it's based on Qemu. When I have time, I will try it.

It's pretty good software. I believe the next release will support VMWare machines. I've been able to install most Linux distro's in it without a problem. With the exception being Sabayon.

it showed up on pclinuxos-TR4 too and I couldn't proceed beyond " Press F8 " during Win XP Pro installation.

If " F8 " is not detected, then forget about installation.

That's the problem, I encountered!
Has anybody in real-time had any luck with this virtualizer installing Win Xp?

I had the F8 problem as well when using the Beryl fancy window manager. I disabled it temporarily, and the problem went away!

Does VirtualBox work with all VMWare appliances or just ones using an open-source virtual hard drive format, ?VMDK?, that is what my version of VirtualBox for Windows said. Win XP Pro & Media Center both installed without hitch on my VirtualBox. The Linux client wasn't getting "F8" key presses? try making sure your keyboard was "captured" by VirtualBox, clicking on the window itself, it might be just that.

In regards to the F8 problem with beryl, I found that if I just changed the binding in beryl from F8 to F6, it worked perfectly...just a thought!

Regarding the F8 problem, i found that if I just did Ctrl-F8 it sent the correct key to windows installer.
